In the latest episode of #IAMSTORIES | INSIDER, join us behind the scenes in a rainy Imola as we follow Senior No.2 Mechanic Ian Staniforth at his last race trackside with Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team.
Ian is set for a new factory-based role at our Silverstone headquarters after 11 years travelling the world in a move that will allow him to use his on-site knowledge to help the team members by working remotely in support.
His final race proved an exciting swansong, with the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix hosting the return of the Sprint format in a weekend filled with changeable conditions.
Join Ian as he demonstrates the inner workings of his role, overcomes the challenges of the weekend, and explains the small details that affect the team's work, such as revised FIA-imposed curfews.
Trackside farewell for Senior No.2 Mechanic
On a week where we claimed our first points finish of 2022 at the first Sprint of the season, we also waved goodbye to a member of our trackside family. Join Ian Staniforth, Seb's Senior No.2 Mechanic, for his last weekend trackside.
But while there are twists and turns throughout the weekend as Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel both score points, there's still time for Ian to reflect on his experiences with the team trackside.
"The biggest thing I'll miss is the guys that I've worked with. You sometimes see them more than your family, so they become your second family," he says. "There's a great bunch of people here."
Elsewhere in the latest episode of INSIDER, we tour the team's motorhome as we throw open the doors to our exclusive home-from-home.
From Ian's emotional farewell to the success of our point-scoring race, we're bringing you on our journey across the Imola weekend.
