Pedro is familiar with life at Team Silverstone. Off the back of multiple titles in Japan, he joined Jordan as a test driver. He played a key role in the improved performances of that year's car, which led to it taking the team's first victory at Spa.

In 1999, Pedro joined the Arrows team for his Grand Prix debut in Australia. He showed great speed right away and was able to secure a point with the unfancied team in his very first race.

After starting the 2001 season as a reserve driver, he would join the Jaguar team partway through the year. The high point of his season came at Monza, where he finished fifth in a quietly effective drive.

Pedro spent 2003 until 2009 as a test driver for McLaren, but he had a few opportunities to race with the team, including when Juan Pablo Montoya left halfway through 2006. Pedro stood in and drove a measured race in Hungary that year to secure a Formula One podium with second place.

For the 2010 season, Pedro finally got the chance to return to F1 full-time, on this occasion with the returning Sauber outfit. In what was now a field of 24 cars, Pedro put in some strong race drives.

After stints at Pirelli and McLaren as a test driver, a one-off at Sauber and a season HRT outfit for one final race year of racing, Pedro returned to a full-time testing role – this time with Ferrari. He played a role in the development of the team’s early cars in the turbo-hybrid era.

Pedro was not done with title-winning success. He joined Formula E team Techeetah in 2018 as a sporting and technical advisor and oversaw two drivers’ and teams’ titles with the outfit.

During 2022, Pedro joined the team as Team Ambassador. In this role, he advises on a range of areas, including the Driver Development Programme and works closely with our communications, media and PR teams.
