Aston Martin Aramco Esports team secures memorable one-two in British F4 Esports opener

The team entered the new campaign with a refreshed line-up and renewed optimism after a year spent learning in the midfield. Joining established F4 Esports talents Iggie Smith and Pedro Silva is GB4 driver Alex O'Grady, who made his championship debut for the team at Donington.

Alex and Iggie were selected to represent Aston Martin Aramco Esports for the opening round, qualifying fifth and seventh respectively in an incredibly competitive 28-car field.

The opening race of the evening saw both drivers establish themselves inside the top 10. After 20 minutes of close racing, Alex crossed the line in seventh place, with Iggie following closely behind in eighth to secure a valuable haul of championship points.

With the reverse grid formed from the top nine finishers, Race Two presented a different opportunity. Iggie lined up second on the grid, while Alex started third.

The Aston Martin duo avoided early incidents involving several front-runners and quickly found themselves at the head of the field. Working together at the front, they built an advantage while battles behind helped create a gap to the chasing pack.

Alex eventually moved ahead of his teammate after an intense battle in the closing stages to claim victory, with Iggie securing second place and completing a memorable one-two finish for Aston Martin Aramco.

The result marks a significant step forward for the team and provides an ideal platform on which to build as the season progresses.

Round 2 of the Motorsport UK British F4 Esports Championship takes place on Wednesday 30 September at Thruxton.
