    Primary Responsibilities

    - Inspection of both finished and in-process composite components.

    - Writing of inspection programs within the Polyworks Metrology Suite.

    - Geometric validation of jigs, patterns, moulds and components.

    - Communicate quality assurance reports to internal manufacturing teams in a clear and concise manner.

    - To demonstrate a flexible and understanding approach to the department’s needs.

    - To meet the requirements and demands of the busy periods.

    - To work proactively, responsibly and professionally always and to respect and comply with the company’s reporting structure.

    - To maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard. Skills & Knowledge Required

    - Previous experience within a composite manufacturing environment.

    - A thorough understanding of Polyworks Metrology Suite.

    - Experience working with Romer Arms and Laser Trackers.

    - An understanding of detailed technical drawings .

    - Ability to interpret layup tables.

    - High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

    - Good understanding of engineering processes.

    - Methodical and thorough approach to your work.

    - Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards working hours.

    We have a new opportunity to be part of the Quality Assurance team in the role of Composite Manufacturing Quality Engineer.

    The Aston Martin F1 Team are entering into an exciting new stage of growth and development. We are seeking to develop our internal manufacturing processes and standards, to a degree that will help us take that next big step towards right first-time production. To this end we are actively searching for a highly motivated and performance driven Quality Engineer to specialise within the composite production areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in our desire to manufacture and supply unrivalled championship-winning components.

    Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance, the Composite Manufacturing Quality Engineer, will be significantly involved in the successful delivery of quality assurance strategies to our composite manufacturing areas. In addition, you will be tasked with providing support to build teams, helping them investigate non-conformances, contain faults and proactively improve the quality function of the manufacturing departments. Becoming the key interface for QA between Design, Engineering and Manufacturing.

    This will be a challenging and busy role and will require effective teamworking and communication skills, a systematic approach, initiative, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will need to have a passion for achieving Quality products and the ability to motivate others within the business and the wider Supply Chain to deliver to a constantly exceptional level. And they will be required to achieve this with minimal supervision, but with all the support they would hope for and expect.

    Applicants will ideally have a strong composite manufacturing background in either Formula 1 or another similar precision composite manufacturing business. They must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of design requirements. The successful candidate will also need to have a strong understanding of the following Quality Tools: SPC, MSA, Gauge R&R, RCCA and FMEA’s, and demonstrate a proven track record of using these skills within comparable manufacturing environments, along with holding a solid understanding of Metrology principles and measurement techniques/ equipment.

    We have a new opportunities to be part of the Composite Trim Shop team in the role of Composite Trimmer on late shift.

    The roles would suit an experienced candidate with a comprehensive background in composite manufacture and assembly.

    Shift Pattern:

    Mon-Thurs 5pm-3:30am

    The Successful candidate must have the following attributes:

    - Extensive experience of composite trimming, fitting, bonding and assembly, ideally in Formula One, other motorsport or the automotive industry.

    - An ability to understand and interpret technical engineering drawings, assembly instructions and CAD operations for viewing.

    - Excellent manual skills and ability to work with hand/air tools.

    - High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

    - A methodical and thorough approach to work.

    - Good communication skills, both written and verbal, combined with the ability to work well with colleagues.

    - Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a dependable team player.

    - Have a positive attitude and be willing to help throughout the department.

    - Work well under pressure to meet time critical deadlines.

    The Key responsibilities of this role are:

    - Trimming, assembling and bonding of composite components and assemblies to an excellent standard and to a set production schedule.

    - Proficient use of hand and air tools to achieve objectives.

    - Perform visual and structural repairs to composite components.

    - Performing TPM on tools and equipment within the Composite Trim department.

    - Successfully meeting challenging and demanding deadlines.

    - The ability to multitask whilst remaining organised and focused.

    - Maintaining consistent high standards.

    - Being proactively aware of Health and Safety requirements and ensuring they are met. Dealing with technical challenges as and when they arise and know when to seek assistance if unsure.

    In this role you will be required to:

    - Assembly of composites components and composites projects across AMR.

    - To provide end to end support for the Race Team to ensure all composites assemblies are available on time and as design intention.

    - To prepare all composite parts pre and post event and provide a turnaround service as required.

    - To provide travelling composite support as required by the Race Team.

    - To service and maintain Composite Race Team Pit and Garage equipment during the season.

    - To work with Aero Support to ensure all Composite Components are as Aero Intent.

    - To report composite assembly and manufacturing faults to the relevant Reliability Engineer and to have a good interaction with the Quality Department ensuring the best build quality is achieved.

    - To carry out show car builds and maintenance.

    - Be prepared to travel at short notice.

    - To participate in regular Pit Crew Training.

    Key skills:

    - Previous Composites Laminating and Trim experience in F1 or top-level Motorsport essential.

    - Recent Trackside experience advantageous.

    - Ability to read and understand detailed CAD drawings essential.

    We have a new opportunity to be part of the Mechanical Design team in the role of Composites Design Engineer (Transmission).

    In this role you will be required to:

    To provide design schemes from concept stage for component design, assemblies and associated jigs, patterns and tooling.

    - To define laminate specification booklets, including structural components.

    - To provide follow up support on these projects during assembly and testing and development.

    - To provide practical solutions to resolve issues arising from testing and development.

    - To proactively participate in developing, implementing and improving design concepts .

    - Good working knowledge of solid modelling techniques and composite manufacturing techniques using pre-preg technology.

    - Relevant design experience in an F1 environment, ideally on composite impact structures and other structural members.

    We have a new opportunity to be part of the Electronics team in the role of Control Systems Factory Support Engineer.

    In this role you will be required to:

    - Provide factory support for race and test events for the operation of the control systems as necessary.

    - Work closely with the trackside control systems engineer to develop calibrations of the relevant control systems (Clutch, differential, torque mapping, gearbox etc.)

    - Ownership of car setup and calibration from the factory

    - Setup and management of the ECU calibrations on a per-event basis

    - Investigation of any live control systems issues using telemetry data, HIL and SIL tools and provide feedback on the resolution to the appropriate project owners.

    - Pre-event information preparation and post event feedback reporting.

    - Off-event continuous development of electronic control systems software for on car use, HIL simulator, DIL simulator and test facilities.

    - Development of software/tools for the configuration, calibration, data monitoring/analysis and performance optimisation of the electronic control and data systems.

    - Provide development support for the standard ECU software and calibration to achieve optimal car performance.

    - Support other control systems activities outside of race events such as clutch, gearbox, BBW, differential

    - To work proactively, responsibly and professionally at all times and to respect and comply with the company’s reporting structure

    Key skills:

    - Good degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, automotive, electronics, mechatronics).

    - Experience working in an F1 track support environment providing analysis, feedback and development for performance optimisation.

    - Experience using McLaren Applied tools such as System Monitor and ATLAS.

    - Experience using Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow for coding and modelling. Knowledge of the configuration and operation of high speed data acquisition and analysis systems.

    The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, hardworking, knowledgeable of machine shop practices and standards, flexible, proactive and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

    What does an R&D role involve?

    - R&D’s function is to test, measure and investigate all aspects of the mechanical and structural systems of the Aston Martin Formula 1 car.

    - Our input is needed in hugely diverse areas of the car including chassis safety and crash testing, suspension behaviour, power unit systems and cooling, wings and structural bodywork as well as brakes and driver controls.

    - Working with design we will understand the demands and requirements of each critical part then design factory rigs and fixturing which allow us to test that part in as close to on-car conditions as possible.

    - By observing behaviour and measuring outcomes we can improve our knowledge, simulation techniques, component reliability and ultimately the performance of our racing car.

    - We keep run logs, observation notes, photos and video then analyse the data and produce relevant plots.

    - Key findings are then reported both verbally and through concise written communication

    - Your role will be the ownership of that full cycle of test and development for a number of car parts. Your knowledge, ideas and collaboration will deliver the best possible value for the technical team.

    We have a new opportunity to be part of the Reliability team in the role of Reliability Engineer.

    In this role you will be required to:

    - Attend races and support factory events as part of a rotation system.

    Trackside responsibilities include:

    - Supporting trackside pre-event car builds liaising between the Design Office and Race Team.

    - Supporting the Chief Mechanic and Head of Trackside Integrations on legality matters, test requests and car updates.

    - Data overload monitoring on both cars during live sessions, reporting any car safety, or reliability concerns, directly to the Head of Trackside Integrations.

    - Documenting and reporting all car faults throughout the event including operational issues that affect car safety and / or performance.

    - Issuing end of day reliability summary reports.

    - Chairing reliability meetings during events as and when required.

    - Supporting the Race Team post-race with car strip-down and reporting any issues.

    Factory responsibilities include:

    - Attending and supporting the pre-event car build and track test request meetings.

    - Documenting and reporting all car related issues raised at the Factory – working closely with numerous departments.

    - Chasing up containments and corrective actions on all reported issues to ensure actions are in place within the expected timescales.

    - Supporting the trackside Reliability engineer in Mission Control throughout an event with overload data monitoring, including issuing end of session summaries highlighting any issues that require action ahead to the next session or event.

    - Chairing the post-event reliability meetings if the trackside engineer is unavailable due to travel.

    - Helping to develop new reliability toolsets, processes and procedures.

    Key skills:

    - Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline.

    - Having a good working knowledge of Atlas 9/10 and Catia 3DX would be advantageous.

    - Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required time scales.
