7 TikToks you will sacrifice sleep for from the Saudi Arabian GP

Homemade AMF1 race suits, Lance Stroll speaking Italian and Fernando Alonso predicting the future; these are the latest TikToks to appear on the @AstonMartinF1 'For You' feed that you need to watch.

Saudi Aarbia TikToks

Two Grands Prix. Two podiums for AMF1. If you only looked at the final classification from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix you could be forgiven for thinking it was a similar race to the inaugural round of the season but, with its high speeds and perilously close walls, Jeddah Corniche Circuit served up an altogether different challenge that kept us hooked from start to finish.

Once again, fans took to TikTok to share their passion for the sport and be part of the story by creating and posting content on the video-sharing platform. From homemade AMF1 race suits to Lance’s linguistic repertoire, these are some of the TikToks you should be watching…

1 | Do not disturb

The thrill of the chase, the ferocious competition, the human endeavour, and the endless desire to push the limits – nothing comes close to racing. For many, watching a Grand Prix is a form of escapism – a chance to immerse yourself in your passion. But it can be an all-consuming experience and, judging by this TikTok, one that @crostappen feels should not be interrupted.

2 | Tune in

One way to fill the gap in track action between the season opener and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was to listen to all 59 minutes of @pitstop's illuminating podcast with Fernando's number one mechanic Mikey Brown, who reflected on an unforgettable start to the season and more. With a fortnight until the Australian Grand Prix, it's worth adding to your playlist if you haven't already given the full interview a listen.

3 & 4 | Familiar faces

Two Grands Prix into the 2023 Formula One campaign and @formule1fan02 has astutely spotted that every free practice session this season has seen the same trio of drivers occupying to top three spots on the timesheets.

With the exception of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, Fernando has not ended a session outside the top three and has often looked like the closest challenger to the Red Bulls. This has given rise to numerous TikToks making use of the audio from that immortal exchange between Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz and Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner many years ago…

5 | Talking Italian

Lance is a man of many talents, and this includes speaking multiple languages: English, French, Flemish and Italian. @shelleyzhou was bowled over upon realising that Lance speaks the latter. Racing under the Canadian flag, Lance holds Canadian and Belgian citizenship and has spent time in Italy previously racing for the Italian outfit Prema during his junior-single-seater career and as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

6 | Suit up

One of the most popular Spanish festivals, Las Fallas is held annually in commemoration of Saint Joseph and celebrates the arrival of spring with fireworks, fiestas, light shows and bonfires. From 15-19 March Valencia becomes one big street party and, perhaps inspired by Fernando’s recent podium celebrations, @anacatala0 took to the streets of the city to join in the festivities dressed in homemade AMF1 race suits.

7 | Magic Alonso

Whether it's predicting when he'd deliver his fastest lap of the weekend or that Max Verstappen would be in second place on lap 25 of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Fernando is making a habit of accurately predicting the future. Having previously had a penchant for performing card tricks, Fernando turned his hand to soothsaying over the weekend.

Granted, when this young fan mustered the courage to ask Fernando what his fastest lap will be, Fernando probably didn’t need a crystal ball to come up with the right answer with qualifying to come in 24 hours. Still, he wasn’t wrong: his final flying lap in Q3 of 1m28.730s was enough to secure Aston Martin’s first front-row start at a Grand Prix since Roy Salvadori in 1959 and was indeed Fernando’s fastest lap of the entire weekend.

Next up is the Australian Grand Prix on 31 March-2 April; make sure you follow @AstonMartinF1 and co-create our story by sharing your videos on TikTok throughout the season as we continue our journey.
