Sebastian talks STEM with Miami school children

Ahead of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team driver Sebastian Vettel swapped the cockpit for the classroom to inspire local school children at Carol City Middle School.

Together with Cognizant, as part of the Make a Mark arm of our I / AM programme, Seb led an assembly for 500 students where he talked about career opportunities in motorsport within the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Our visit to Carol City Middle School is set to have a lasting positive impact that goes beyond the Miami Grand Prix, as Cognizant will provide students at the school with additional online STEM learning. The extra resource is tailored to complement the students' existing curriculum, encouraging them to pursue careers in motorsport.

"I knew what I wanted from a very young age, and I did all that I could to go after it" said Sebastian. "Life can turn out in so many different ways, but ultimately it’s about finding that passion, believing in yourself, and going after it."

Inspiring future generations

Together with Cognizant as part of our Make A Mark programme, our team and Sebastian Vettel met with local school children in Miami to discuss experiences of an F1 driver, STEM subjects and future career opportunities in motorsport.

Tanjim Hossain, a teacher at Carol City Middle School added, "We're really excited that Aston Martin Formula One Team and their title partner Cognizant are here to help our children learn about all the different opportunities available through motorsport and STEM."

While 7th grade student Za’niyah Rhim said , "Today was super fun meeting him [Sebastian Vettel]. It was a big opportunity and it inspired me to follow my dreams no matter what."

Janet Woods from Cognizant Outreach, shared: "It's been a remarkable day at Carol City Middle School in Miami. Working alongside Aston Martin F1, we watched the students' minds open up while they listened to Sebastian. At Cognizant, we're committed to creating equal opportunity and diversity both in and out of the workplace. It's our hope that our partnership with Aston Martin F1 will continue to inspire future generations."
