Shutter Speed: 2022

We're passionate about bringing you, our fans, closer to Formula One than ever before.

Through the incredible photography we capture at the places we visit and the circuits we race, we take you behind the scenes – deeper – and immerse you in our journey at the pinnacle of the sport.

Talented photographer Conor McDonnell joined us throughout 2022 to intimately capture the race weekend experience. Here is our carefully curated, unranked selection of some of the best photos from our season – some of which have remained unseen, until now...

Gall1

Eyes focused. Lance Stroll prepares to head out onto the circuit for the first race of the season at the Bahrain International Circuit. As is the case with any new season, there is an element of driving into the unknown – not knowing the competitive order until everyone shows their hand in the final, pulsating laps of qualifying.

Gall2

Shine on, super sub. Nico Hülkenberg stepped in for Sebastian at the first two rounds of the season and delivered a dazzling performance on the track. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix would be his final race start for 'team Silverstone' – an association spanning a decade – before leaving AMF1 at the end of the year for a new chapter in his career with Haas.

Gall3

Suited and booted. Preparing to head out onto the all new Miami International Autodrome, Lance's reflection bounces off the garage walls. From the pitlane, Lance fought his way up the order to snatch a points finish.

Gall12

Back to school. Passionate about the environment, equality and social justice, Sebastian was as determined as ever to Make a Mark with AMF1 and drive positive change throughout 2022. Ahead of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, he swapped the cockpit for the classroom and visited Carol City Middle School to inspire students and speak about STEM career opportunities within motorsport.

Gall6

Together as a team. The Japanese Grand Prix was a rollercoaster of a weekend, and Sebastian's triumphant fight to the finish line with fellow multiple World Champion Fernando Alonso sent the AMF1 garage into euphoria following a dramatic Grand Prix that began with Sebastian facing wrong way coming out of the first turn.

Gall11

The first podium. AMF1 driver ambassador Jessica Hawkins kicked off her W Series campaign with a superb podium finish at the Miami International Autodrome. Finishing third on the road, Jessica was later promoted to second – making that historic moment that little bit sweeter.

Gall4

Heritage and culture. 22 locations around the globe, each with their own history and atmosphere. AMF1 visited Japan for the first time in 2022, and revelled in the unique culture and enchanting landscapes the magical country has to offer.

Gall5

Green glowsticks. One of the most emotive moments of our season was captured on the grid at Suzuka, during the fan forum. The Japanese fans waved glowsticks from the grandstands while the floodlights beamed down on Sebastian as he bade fans a fond farewell.

Gall7

Let me take a selfie. A man of many talents on and off the track, Sebastian tried his hand at photography during an exclusive I / AM member experience in Austin. Perhaps this is just a hint of what life after Formula One might look like for the four-time World Champion?

Gall8

Ride on, cowboy. Lance got into the Texas spirit in true style, donning a cowboy hat and an American football. In a weekend of great pace from Lance, he put in his best qualifying of the season around the Circuit of the Americas.

Gall10

Preparation. The garages in Formula One are tight, even at the purpose-built venues, and this snap of Sebastian getting into his car offers a small glimpse of their compactness. Assisted by his Number One Mechanic, Mikey Brown, Sebastian gets ready to take to the track at the thrilling Circuit of the Americas.

Gall9

The eyes of a champion. Looking straight into the camera, Sebastian focuses intensely ahead of the United States Grand Prix. A formidable racer, the fire never stops burning, and this was displayed in some style on the track as Sebastian pulled off a daring overtake at the penultimate corner of the race.
