7 TikToks you will sacrifice sleep for from the Australian Grand Prix

Mike on Aus 1

Fernando Alonso mewing in Melbourne, a tram sing-along, Tim Tams, and Olympic snowboarder Scotty James in the Aston Martin Aramco garage. This is what TikTok made of our weekend Down Under.

After a solid start to the season in the Middle East, we headed Down Under to Australia for round three of the 2024 Formula One World Championship and the scenic setting of Albert Park, Melbourne.

Passionate fans, a brilliant circuit, and some late summer Aussie sunshine are just some of the reasons why we love racing in Australia. We were treated to a fantastic atmosphere all weekend long in Melbourne.

As Lance and Fernando achieved double points for the second time in the first three races of the year, TikTokers captured the buzz of F1 racing Down Under over the course of the weekend.

Here are some of our favourite TikToks from the Australian Grand Prix.

1 & 2 | Swapping sports

Olympic snowboarder Scotty James swapped the snow-kissed slopes for the energy and sunshine of Albert Park as he joined us for the Australian Grand Prix, going behind the scenes in our garage and soaking up the noise of the AMR24 firing up.

We also treated Scotty to a personalised Australian memento he knows all too well – Tim Tams. They were the talk of the paddock, and Scotty was delighted with the gift.

3 & 4 | Lance and Fernando grab attention

Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso once again made some waves on TikTok: the question is, was he or was not mewing? Meanwhile, Lance was enjoying sunny Melbourne as he joined Esteban Ocon for a walk to the paddock from the grid – captured by @strmf1.

5 | Setting the stage for round three

Heading to Australia is always a highlight in the Formula One season.

Australia's sports capital, Melbourne, is a brilliant setting for a Grand Prix. And we summed up the mood and excitement of heading back to Albert Park with this TikTok at the start of the weekend.

6 | Putting in the laps

Most people will never get to complete a lap behind the wheel of an F1 car around the Albert Park Circuit but @f1porumcomum's setup isn't too far from the real thing.

They totted up the laps ahead of the race weekend to provide some insight into a flying lap around the Melbourne track, in what looks a really impressive sim setup that got us thinking of the all-new AMR24 Show Car Simulators we've teamed up with Memento Exclusives to produce for fans and gamers.

7 | Tuning in on the tram

Fans are the lifeblood of our sport and no matter which team or driver you support, our love for the sport unites us. In Melbourne, you can feel the energy from fans when F1 is in town and this year was no exception as fans created an electric atmosphere all weekend long.

Cue @binxdarling's TikTok of the fans joining in voice on one of the city's trams to sing 'Sweet Caroline'.

Good times never seemed so good...
