Bringing Formula One to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Aston Martin F1

Shortly after the battle for pole position at the British Grand Prix, Aston Martin Aramco visited Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, surprising patients with the team's Formula One car.

In the build-up to the 2024 British Grand Prix, we brought F1 to the streets of Britain by touring the country with an Aston Martin Aramco F1 car alongside the thunderous Aston Martin DBX707.

We stopped at various locations, including iconic landmarks such as Wembley Stadium and Centenary Square in Birmingham, and with the support of the Teenage Cancer Trust, we made a special appearance at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital ahead of our home race.

Patients and staff at the hospital were able to see the car, as well as Fernando Alonso's special-edition BOSS helmet for the British Grand Prix, and the team's 2023 Canadian Grand Prix trophy.

In addition to the incredible staff who provide expert care and treatment at the hospital, during our visit we met brave and inspiring young patients and their families, including nine-year-old Jozef, who is currently being treated for Acute Myloid Leukaemia.

Jozef, who was diagnosed in March at the age of nine, is due to have a stem cell transplant in August, requiring him to spend much of his time in the Manchester hospital.

Despite what he's been through, Jozef is always smiling – and we were treated to his biggest smile when he got hands-on with an Aston Martin Aramco steering wheel as well as seeing our F1 car up close.

"It's been phenomenal to see the Aston Martin Aramco F1 car up close," said Jen Duggan, Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. "To be able to be close enough to touch the car is unbelievable.

"We've seen a lot of smiles on the faces of our young patients, their parents and our staff. They really enjoyed this memorable experience.

"It's such a wonderful opportunity for the young people who would have been in bed all day as they continue their treatment.

"The work we do is vital and I'm so grateful to Aston Martin Aramco for taking the time to visit Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. A lot of people's dreams have come true today."

Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to helping young people through their cancer diagnosis. Their unique care and support includes specialist nurses, youth workers – such as Jen – and hospital units, ensuring no young person faces cancer alone.
