Discovering pathways into motorsport at AMR Technology Campus and Silverstone Circuit

We invited young people to Silverstone Circuit to watch F1 ACADEMY testing and to the AMR Technology Campus for an exclusive tour, showcasing the many routes available to women and girls wanting to get into motorsport.

Students from the JCB Academy and Kingsthorpe College recently joined our team for an immersive day of learning.

Designed to bring young people closer to the world of F1 ACADEMY, the day began at Silverstone Circuit with a guided tour of the pit lane and F1 ACADEMY garages, interactive sessions, and a STEM-focused panel discussion that offered a chance to hear from the team about working in motorsport and provided insights into achieving that goal.

They also got to watch our F1 ACADEMY driver Mathilda Paatz take to the track as she clocked up the laps ahead of Round Two of the season in Montréal, and hear from Aston Martin Aramco Head of F1 ACADEMY and Driver Ambassador Jessica Hawkins who provided invaluable advice on pursuing a career in motorsport.

"The one thing I've learnt over my career is you need goals, but it's also fine to veer off when opportunities present themselves," said Jessica.

"They may not be opportunities you considered, but it's important to have an open mind and zigzag in directions you might not have considered before. Work hard and try hard, and you will eventually get where you want to go."

In the afternoon, it was time for students to travel across the road to our state-of-the-art home, the AMR Technology Campus, for the second part of the experience.

The group toured our facility, exploring up close where we design and produce our F1 cars, and also had the chance to hear from team members in various roles, including within Partnerships, Communications and the F1 Evolution team.

It was an illuminating day, enabling the students to discover the wide array of paths into motorsport that exist, and gain a broader understanding of the many careers in F1.
