Make A Mark | AMF1 and Cognizant inspire young minds at car launch
AMF1 and Title Partner Cognizant give young people the chance to experience the launch of the AMR23 and discover career pathways into motorsport and technology.
In 2023, we're continuing our Make A Mark journey – an initiative based on a commitment to drive positive progress through the influence of the team and our sport. At car launch, together with our Title Partner Cognizant, we welcomed students from our charity partners to showcase the careers available in motorsport and technology and immerse the students in the world of Formula One as the covers came off our new challenger.
The group of young people was made up of students from the Raspberry PI Foundation, which promotes the study of computer science in schools and helps provide opportunities for children, the Aleto Foundation, which provides 'real world' and practical support for young people, and Silverstone University Technical College.
Along with attending the live launch of our new F1 car and meeting AMF1 race drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso just moments later, the group of youngsters visited the AMF1 factory and enjoyed a tour of the nearby Silverstone Museum where they took part in a Make A Mark discovery session. The session was designed to demystify the motorsports and technology industries and provide them with the opportunity to learn about the different routes to a career in these industries.
The session included AMF1 Junior Mechanical Design Engineer Michael Okeke sharing his F1 journey and taking part in a Q&A with the students, and Jessica Hawkins providing an illuminating insight into the life of a W Series racing driver and her role as an AMF1 Driver Ambassador.
