Jean English, Chief Marketing Officer at CoreWeave, reveals how AI cloud infrastructure is reshaping Formula One by unlocking performance and removing technical barriers, helping our team turn vast quantities of data into something tangible.

Formula One loves big data. Loves it. Our cars generate more data than can possibly be transmitted via telemetry but even this is a drop in the ocean when compared to the vast amount of information flowing around the AMR Technology Campus through design, computational fluid dynamics, mechanical testing, wind tunnel runs, online and offline simulation, and much more besides.

AI and F1 are natural partners. AI allows our team to better harness this data and make smarter, faster decisions… but to do that, we need the best AI infrastructure. That's where our partnership with CoreWeave comes in. It gives our team access to the most advanced cloud-based AI infrastructure, and helps the team across the board, from design analysis and wind tunnel learning, all the way through to race day decision-making.

Jean English, CoreWeave's Chief Marketing Officer, has spent a career at the intersection of cloud-based computing and AI. These are her thoughts on the future of her industry… and ours.

Just what is an AI Cloud?

"A few years ago, people didn't know what an AI cloud was. They didn't know why they would need it; they didn't know why it was important. Today, AI has taken flight, and what is now better understood is the need for purpose-built AI infrastructure to power it. Infrastructure that is not a barrier so these models can make impact happen faster. CoreWeave is the Essential Cloud for AI™, purpose-built for the speed and performance and reliability that can unleash AI's full potential.

"Every industry is being supercharged by this, from financial trading to pharma research. It's become essential. The leading-edge of technology changes at pace: a few years ago, people were saying they couldn't live without WiFi. Increasingly, they can't live without AI."

From the start, our focus has been on supercharging car design and aero; removing infrastructure bottlenecks and doing more rapid computational fluid dynamics.

A year with Aston Martin Aramco

"F1 doesn't view AI as a futuristic concept, it looks at it as a critical tool. That's what led us to join Aston Martin Aramco in May 2025 as its Official AI Cloud Computing Partner. Our role is focused on providing a decisive edge for the team, with AI cloud infrastructure to speed up design processes, provide real-time data, and deliver insight on race day. It's a perfect alignment of talent, technology and really fierce ambitions.

"At CoreWeave, we started from a blank sheet of paper, focused on removing the many different complexities of cloud infrastructure. We looked at what was happening in parallel computing, the foundational building block of AI, and saw that infrastructure had become a barrier to how most people were able to train models, and the speed at which they could use those models. We wanted to remove that barrier, and build enough capacity to provide enough compute to really drive these AI models.

"What does this mean for F1 right now? There are vast amounts of data, and limited time. In a sport defined by car design and aerodynamics, having the right infrastructure removes barriers and expands the limits of what a team can do. It delivers more time for testing and integration, and ensures the most precise model goes into the wind tunnel. More speed, more analysis, more ability to maximise the team's assets.

"At CoreWeave, we knew we wanted to get involved with F1, and went through a lengthy evaluation process on who to partner with. We decided Aston Martin Aramco was the best fit due to our shared values and beliefs around pace and performance. From the start, our focus has been on supercharging car design and aero; removing infrastructure bottlenecks and doing more rapid computational fluid dynamics (CFD). We have also looked at real-time analytics to process telemetry and provide a smarter race strategy. The team is now using AI to understand what's actually happening rather than just seeing the data itself."

Principles of partnership

"Our partnership is grounded in three base principles. The first and most important is the technology integration itself. This is where we see true impact on racing, from design through to race day strategy. Right now, AI can be more and more infused with the driver's feedback and the telemetry coming off the car.

"The second is brand awareness, from visible placement on the car, through to our collaboration in the AMR Technology Campus wind tunnel – or AI Research (Ai.R) Tunnel. At first, it was simply a wind tunnel, but then we started thinking about how it could be something more. It was a great storytelling opportunity for us: the more we accelerate our learning and accelerate our understanding and insight, the more we can start to shape how we think about the performance of the car.

"Partnering with Aston Martin Aramco during the commissioning stage gave us the opportunity to build toward a shared ambition, using infrastructure to gain a competitive advantage. In F1, the rules restrict the number of wind-on hours in the tunnel, which puts a premium on every session. Working more efficiently in the tunnel is the gold standard, meaning the team wants to take only the best models into the tunnel, and extract the data as efficiently as possible.

"This is Adrian Newey's playground. As Aston Martin Aramco's Managing Technical Partner and Team Principal, he sets the bar for what's possible technically, and we wanted to have a direct impact by providing the right infrastructure to run AI on. We see this as a great opportunity to shape and accelerate learning, and get real-time understanding of performance.

"The third principle of the partnership offers us the ability to bring customers, clients and prospects to the racetrack. It's not difficult to get people to come to a Grand Prix, because obviously it's a fantastic sport – but at the same time, it's useful. It gives them an illustration of what we're doing with Aston Martin Aramco, and provides a better understanding of how we can help them with similar challenges in their own businesses."

There really is no telling how this industry will continue to grow. But we're going to discover it here. Our partnership is a proving ground for high-performance AI engineering and speed of delivery.

Looking to the future

"I'm often asked about the medium-term future of AI cloud, and what I can see in the crystal ball. Truthfully speaking, the crystal ball might only be seeing as far as tomorrow, rather than some nebulous point three or five years in the future. There really is no telling how this industry will continue to grow.

"But we're going to discover it here. Our partnership is a proving ground for high-performance AI engineering and speed of delivery. For us, that might be the speed with which we can come to market with the latest GPUs; for Aston Martin Aramco, it's the speed of being able to get to the next design iteration, or the speed of gathering insights to make decisions in real-time on the pit wall.

"Looking at the future of our partnership, I think we'll stay very ambitious together. AI is still about research and learning. We have use cases providing useful results today, but we're gradually building on those use cases and imagining new possibilities.

"This is the future of AI. It's continuously learning from new data, and through that training it gains more ability to understand the vast amounts of data collected from the car.

"Undoubtedly it will continue to improve. Our focus is to make sure the infrastructure on which that AI is being run always has the latest and greatest hardware, purpose-built for AI, and is always able to deliver the speed, reliability, and performance required to have an excellent impact on Aston Martin Aramco."
