    Aerodynamic performance is the largest differentiator in Formula 1. Our Aerodynamicists work together to tackle complex aerodynamic problems by combining solid fundamentals, creativity, a calm demeanour, and effective analysis with a passion for the sport, tenacity, dedication, and a desire for perfection.

    Responsibilities

    Using these qualities, you will help improve the aerodynamic performance our current and future race cars by:

    - Working effectively as part of a team

    - Analysing and understanding the results of wind tunnel (WT) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tests

    - Efficiently creating and iterating new geometric solutions to aerodynamic problems using computer aided design (CAD)

    - Working across the design groups to ensure the aerodynamic intent is realised

    - Working shifts in the wind tunnel as part of the team responsible for ensuring a successful test

    - Improving the aerodynamic development methodology and processes

    Requirements

    To be successful, you will need:

    - An excellent engineering degree with a specialisation in aerodynamics or equivalent

    - A thorough understanding of aerodynamics and the ability to apply that knowledge

    - Prior experience in high-level aerodynamics, preferably Formula 1

  • Composite Trimmer - Nights

    We have an early careers opportunity to be part of the Composite Trim Shop team in the role of Composite Trimmer on night shift (Mon-Thurs 5pm-3:30am).

    The role would suit a candidate early in their composite manufacturing career; who has a solid grounding in trimming and assembly, and is seeking to develop and widen their capability alongside an experienced team.

    The Successful candidate must have the following attributes:

    - 2-3 years of composite trimming, fitting, bonding and assembly, ideally gained in Formula One, other motorsport or the automotive industry.

    - Excellent manual skills and ability to work with hand/air tools.

    - Knowledge of Finance and HR best practice

  • Project Designer - Pit Equipment

    Responsibilities:

    - To design various equipment for special projects required for all AMR requirements.

    - To Plan and design various analogue and digital electronic equipment with schematic capture and plan of the processes involved with unit development/production.

    - Full design and development of electronic systems including rig and test facilities.

    - To ensure practical, efficient, cost-effective equipment is designed, developed and available as required by our Factory & Race Team.

    Responsibilities:

    - Collaborate closely with Aerodynamicists, Design Engineers and Operational Teams for the delivery of development geometry to the organisation for CFD, WT and Track testing.

    - Construct complex CAD concept surfaces using CATIA.

    - Champion continuous improvement in aerodynamic design processes.

  • Senior Design Engineer - Engine Systems

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to be an effective part of the team responsible for the design and development of varied mechanical and composite components within our Engine Systems group.

    The group is responsible for the design of all aspects related to the powertrain installation in the car, including the cooling and fuel system. A role in this group offers exposure to many engineering disciplines to ensure these systems are structurally and aerodynamically optimised and provides an opportunity to make tangible improvements to the performance and reliability of the car.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design and development of all aspects related to the powertrain installation in the car, including:

    - Fuel Systems: Optimising fuel delivery, performance and efficiency.

    - Engine Cooling Systems: Designing radiators, ducts, and other components for optimal temperature management.

    - Other Powertrain Components: Designing and integrating tanks, packaging for some electric components, clutch, MGU and other crucial engine support systems.

    Collaborate with various specialists (aerodynamicists, thermal management experts, production engineers) to ensure:

    - Seamless integration with car aerodynamics.

    - Proactive involvement in fault resolution activities

    - Optimised powertrain performance.

    - Designs are manufacturable and meet production timelines.

    Contribute to weight reduction initiatives through material selection, production methods and sound design principles.

    Qualifications and Experience

    - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Motorsport Engineering or related field.

    - Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical/ systems design within a motorsport/ high performance sector

    - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).

    - Attention to Detail: Critical for fast-paced development and reliable assemblies.

    Responsibilities:

    Mass Definition for Each Assembly:

    - Define and document mass properties for each vehicle assembly.

    - Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure accurate mass representation.

    Mass Tracking Pre/Post Event:

    - Implement and maintain robust processes for tracking mass changes before and after significant events (e.g., design reviews and prototype builds).

    - Ensure mass data integrity through meticulous documentation and verification.

    Ensuring Rigorous Mass Updates During the Design Phase:

    - Monitor and manage mass updates throughout the design phase.

    - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and precise mass data updates.

    Developing Spreadsheet and Internal Methods to Track Mass:

    - Create and maintain advanced spreadsheets and internal tools for efficient mass tracking.

    - Develop methodologies to streamline mass tracking processes and enhance data accuracy.

    CAD Methodologies for Vehicle Mass:

    - Utilise CAD (Catia 3D Experience) to analyse vehicle mass properties and inertia.

    - Integrate mass management practices within the CAD design workflow.

    Chasing Measure Masses vs. Theoretical:

    - Compare measured masses of physical components with theoretical values to identify discrepancies.

    - Investigate and resolve any differences to ensure alignment between theoretical models and actual measurements.

    Collaborate with the R&D department for car control strip-down activity

    - Hands-on collaboration with RnD Car control strip down activity and post analysis.

    - The data processing for the design office and vehicle dynamic department support.

    Skills & Knowledge Required

    Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

    Proven experience in mass management within the automotive or aerospace industry would be an advantage.

    Experience in 3D CAD systems, ideally with good working knowledge of Catia V5 surfacing

    Advanced skills in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and data management tools.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills with multiple departments.

    Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales

    We have a new opportunity to be part of our Wind Tunnel Operations team in the role of Wind Tunnel Technician.

    Working as part of the Wind Tunnel Operations group, you will undertake a range of projects and activities to provide technical support to our brand-new, state-of-the-art wind tunnel.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    - Operation and maintenance of the Aston Martin Wind Tunnel.

    - Routine checks and calibration of Wind Tunnel model instrumentation, pre and post Wind Tunnel session and during model builds.

    - Assemble, operate and maintain bench test rigs for system checking both on and off model.

    - Assemble, operate, maintain and repair R&D test and calibration rigs and equipment.

    - Assemble, install, help diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems within the Wind Tunnel, on the model and R&D test rigs.

    - Record data and document experimental methods, configurations, and procedures.

    - Collate tunnel metrics to report on tunnel health and efficiency.

    - Assist with stock control and spares inventory record keeping.

    The successful candidate should have previous experience in one or more of the following:

    - Wind Tunnel systems and aerodynamic testing.

    - Other high-level motorsport or automotive research and testing environments.

    - Mechanical Engineering.

    - Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

    - Systems Engineering.

    - Fitting, maintenance or calibrations of test or measurement equipment.

    The ideal applicant must possess excellent practical and technical skills which can be applied to a range of equipment types, from heavy plant to sensitive instrumentation.

    In addition, they must be able to follow detailed instructions, both written and verbal, and work methodically, showing good record-keeping and IT skills.

    Previous experience with wiring harnesses and electronic components, along with data acquisition software knowledge would be a significant advantage.

    The role demands a flexible approach to working hours including shift work and occasional weekends.
