This is home. For the second leg of the double-header, we made our way to the legendary Silverstone Circuit, right on the doorstop of our AMR Technology Campus. Get the thoughts of Lance, Fernando and our team following the weekend's action.
In front of our passionate home fans, Lance and Fernando both finished inside the top ten following a rainy British Grand Prix.
Read on for full coverage of our weekend in Silverstone.
Sunday round-up and reaction
Due to rain having fallen on the track throughout the day, Fernando and Lance both opted to begin on Intermediates from P7 and P17 respectively.
At the end of Lap 6, Lance pitted under a Virtual Safety Car for Soft tyres. When the race got back underway on the following lap, Lance was approximately 10 seconds faster in the middle sector than those on the Intermediates and began to make his way into the points positions.
Shortly after, more rain hit the track, getting heavier each lap. Responding to the weather, Lance pitted for Intermediates and returned to the track in P11. Both pitstops were timed well, allowing Lance to gain track position.
Fernando made his first pitstop at the end of Lap 11 for fresh Intermediates. After several drivers pitted, Lance was up to fourth, having gained 13 positions.
At the midpoint of the race, our duo were racing in P3 and P8.
Fernando came in for Medium tyres at the end of Lap 38 – the first driver to switch to a dry compound at this point in the race. Four laps later, Lance pitted for Softs.
The chequered flag fell with Lance in P7 and Fernando P9, securing eight points for the team.
Earlier in the day, Mari Boya continued his Silverstone successes with a Feature Race victory in Formula 3. Aston Martin Aramco Young Driver Jak Crawford also claimed P1 in Formula 2's Feature Race, moving him into second place in the Driver Standings.
#18 | Lance Stroll | Race
"Very mixed weekend for us at Silverstone – we showed some decent pace during Practice on Friday, which unfortunately we couldn't build on during Qualifying and started from the back today. The team made some good strategy calls during the race and overall a good result.
"I really struggled with tyre degradation and unfortunately we weren't in a position where we could fight for more. [Nico] Hülkenberg had a lot more grip during that last stint and with the level of degradation we got the best possible result today."
#14 | Fernando Alonso | Race
"I feel like it was a missed opportunity today despite scoring some points. It was difficult to read with the rain falling again and we lost some positions in the first pitstop. For the second pitstop we pitted too soon and I lost a lot of time on a slightly damp track with slick tyres.
"We had some good pace but in the end we weren't able to capitalise on an eventful race. I am very happy for Nico [Hülkenberg] to score his first podium and I hope he enjoys the celebrations."
Andy Cowell | CEO & Team Principal
"It was an intense and challenging afternoon in Silverstone with Lance and Fernando battling hard to score eight points between them [Lance P7 and Fernando P9]. We were fighting at the front, but our pace dropped off as the DRS was enabled and the track continued to dry. We probably switched Fernando to the dry tyres a bit too early, but he managed to recover to the points.
"Lance drove very well today: he didn't put a wheel out of place. Given the pace of the car, P7 is a great result.
"In these rainy races, you often reflect and see opportunities where you could have done things differently – and most teams probably feel the same – but we can be pleased to get both cars in the points at our home race."
Next up
After a short break, we'll return to the track for another double-header starting in Belgium on 25-27 July.

Saturday
Our drivers had similar run plans for the weekend's final Free Practice, starting by scrubbing a set of Mediums and a set of Hards. Following this, they worked on securing valuable data on the Medium compound for the majority of the session.
A Red Flag briefly paused running. With five minutes to go, Lance and Fernando got back out on track to complete their final Free Practice stints on Soft tyres, but another Red Flag put an early end to the session.
Drops of rain fell on the track and the wind speed picked up ahead of Qualifying.
In Q1, Lance was in the middle of a flying lap on a brand new set of tyres when a Red Flag interrupted him. Q1 resumed with less than seven minutes remaining, but Lance's session unfortunately came to an end in P18.
Fernando progressed through to Q2 in fifth before safely securing a place in Q3. Concluding Qualifying in P9, he'll start our home Grand Prix from seventh following penalties for other drivers.
In Formula 3, Aston Martin Aramco Driver Academy member Mari Boya secured a podium in the Sprint Race.
#18 | Lance Stroll | Qualifying
"Overall a tricky day and Qualifying session for us here in Silverstone. I was really happy with the car setup yesterday, but today I struggled with balance and pace, similar to last weekend where we looked competitive on Friday, but then struggled during Qualifying on lower fuel loads. We will need to look into this to understand it better because I'm not sure why.
"It’s going to be a really tough day tomorrow starting from the back, but we’ll see what we can do."
#14 | Fernando Alonso | Qualifying
"I'm happy with today and to be in Q3 again. It wasn't a straightforward FP3 session for us and because of this we went into Qualifying a little more unknown with the car setup. We tested the new upgrades this weekend too and it seems a small step in the right direction. So, all in all, I think we can be pleased to be starting P7 tomorrow after a well-executed Qualifying session.
"Let's see what we can do tomorrow. We will keep an eye on the weather and I would quite like there to be some rain as it can mix things up. There are some fast cars around us and it will be a long race, but let's see if we can score some more points."
Andy Cowell | CEO & Team Principal
"A strong session for Fernando with clean and tidy laps taking him through to Q3. We expect him to start from P7 [after grid penalties for Bearman and Antonelli] which gives us a good opportunity to score some points.
"Lance was not as comfortable with the car today and was missing the balance we had in the Free Practice. We will go through the data to try and see why that happened and improve things going forward.
"It looks like we can expect similar tricky weather conditions tomorrow – with gusts and a risk of showers. We will be pushing hard, determined to put on a good show on home ground in front of the British fans."

Friday
Our team began Free Practice One by running a new floor and top bodywork on Fernando's AMR25. Lance continued with the previous specification to compare data between the two cars.
Lance and Fernando began the weekend's first session on the Hard tyre. Midway through, both drivers switched to Softs before returning to the Hard compound for their final stints.
After analysing information collected from the AMR25 updates, our team applied the updates to Lance's car ahead of FP2.
Both drivers running the new package, they started FP2 on the Medium tyre and switched to Softs at the halfway point. When 10 minutes remained, our duo got back out on track on the Mediums.
When the chequered flag fell on Friday's running, Lance and Fernando classified P7 and P12 after gathering data over 48 laps in FP2.
#18 | Lance Stroll | Free Practice
"Silverstone is a great track and I always love coming back here. It's a special race for the team, as we're just steps away from the factory. The support we get here every year and the energy around the weekend are special.
"I've got some good laps in today during FP2 and the car felt decent, but it's early days so we'll go through the data. We'll see what we can work on tonight and come back tomorrow."
#14 | Fernando Alonso | Free Practice
"It's difficult to read where we are after today's Practice. In FP1 it didn't look too different between the two packages, but let's see if we learnt something more from FP2 as we tried some different things with the set-up.
"It was a very typical Friday around Silverstone with how windy it was. There are a lot of things to analyse, but it was a clean day and let's see what we can do tomorrow."
