I became a Formula One fan back in 1999 while I was living and working in London. I was already a huge sports fan and had been lucky enough to attend many events, but I’d never been to a Grand Prix.
I had grown up watching it on TV with my dad when I was little and seeing a Grand Prix live was my dream. Being in America, that was niche as Formula One was definitely more popular “on the other side of the pond”!
It wasn’t until 2000 before my dream finally became real, attending the British Grand Prix that year and in 2001. While Aston Martin wasn’t racing in those Grands Prix, I did see ex-Formula One drivers racing Aston Martins at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
I thought it was the coolest event I’d ever attended, but then I had an incredible opportunity that allowed me to take my father to the 2002 Monaco Grand Prix. It was awesome because it was my dad who had introduced me to Formula One and I was able to share the glitz and glamour with him.

We were sitting in the suite with the British drivers’ families to watch the race, which was all the more incredible because it was the year David Coulthard won Monaco. We were invited to their “victory party,” and my dad still says it was one of the most amazing days of his life.
I also told my father that day: “My future husband must be an F1 fan.” Fast forward to the present day, and I’m married to an amazing Englishman with two children – all of whom are Formula One fans!
Harvey and my son Aleksandr went to the 2018 United States Grand Prix in Austin, and we were all planning to go in 2020 as a family. COVID hit and plans changed, but the passion remains!
