We capped off our best season yet with a double points finish under the lights of Yas Marina Circuit. As the curtain began to descend, here's what TikTok made of things in Abu Dhabi.

A solid sign-off from 2023: 280 points on the board, Lance making up places to secure the final point, and Fernando finishing seventh at the chequered flag to take fourth in the championship. 

And now, attention turns to a busy off-season. The days are ticking down to the Bahrain pre-season test, there's a new car to sign off and homologate, work to begin on the first upgrade package, and reams of data to analyse in the hope of extracting every lesson we can from a spectacular 2023 campaign – but that's just what's going through our minds. TikTok has its own interpretation of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

1 | The cinematic experience

Racing under lights has a certain cinematic appeal, and the atmosphere at Yas Marina supports that.

It doesn't have the frenetic busyness of Singapore – or now, Las Vegas – but more of a good-natured buzz.

With the theme parks, the concerts, the go-kart track and a warm, evening breeze blowing across the circuit, it's become a race for package tours and weekends away. And with 60 genuine overtaking moves (nine of them from Fernando and Lance), everyone this weekend got to see what they came for.

2 | Moonlighting

The TV pen is rarely the drivers' favourite place to be, but there's always a little bit of a party atmosphere in the paddock after the final race, things get a little silly, and that extends to TV interviews.

This week Fernando and Max Verstappen decided to grab the mic and interview each other. Max asked the hard questions – but then, as Fernando says, the Dutchman had less to do over the previous two hours…

3 | Sign here

On Thursdays, the drivers spend a large part of their day talking to, and signing things for, fans, but it doesn't stop at the paddock swipe gate. Most of the people in the pitlane are here because they love the sport, and the last race of the season is traditionally the place to have photographs and mementos signed.

It doesn't matter how successful you get; you're still a fan at heart.

4 | The newest member of our driver squad

We were thrilled to announce Tina Hausmann as our F1 Academy driver ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Swiss racer joined us at Yas Marina Circuit and took to TikTok to take you behind the scenes and share the story of her first weekend with the team.

6 & 7 | Public figure of the year

TikTok users in Spain voted Fernando their Public Figure of the Year last week. Realistically, who else could it be?

Over the course of a long, dramatic 2023 campaign, we've enjoyed outstanding performances, with Fernando supplying eight podiums, four front-row starts and the fastest lap during an wet race in the Netherlands.

Fernando's TikToks have been equally eye-catching, often hilarious, and always worthy of a spot on our round-up.



8 | One last dance

One more TikTok to see out the season.

This TikTok was shared earlier this year, but as the curtain falls on the 2023 campaign and we take a moment to reflect on and celebrate our best season to date, this TikTok, with its bright lights, loud music, and boundless energy on the dancefloor, feels like a fitting way to sign off the series.
